The Benefits of LASIK

If you opt for LASIK eye surgery in our Atlanta office, apart from receiving the best possible eye care, you will also experience the following benefits of the procedure:

• Improved vision: with only one outpatient procedure, you can enjoy better vision, and you can say goodbye to your glasses.

• Quick recovery: With most patients getting back to their normal daily activities only a day after surgery, it’s safe to say that there’s almost no downtime with LASIK.

• No more corrective eyewear: As already mentioned above, if wearing contacts or glasses annoyed you in the past, they won’t be a problem following LASIK.

• Results that last: After having your LASIK surgery in our Atlanta office and following the stabilization period (usually three months), the results of the treatment will be permanent.

Are You a Good Candidate for LASIK?

Before undergoing LASIK, our Atlanta eye surgeons will examine your eyes as well as ask you a few questions to see whether LASIK is for you. The ideal candidates for the procedure are:

  • Eighteen years old or older: Younger patients still might experience changes in their vision.
  • Having a stable prescription
  • Good health: Certain conditions like diabetes may increase risks and complications.
  • Not pregnant: Pregnant women may also experience vision changes due to hormonal changes. To see whether you’re a good candidate for LASIK eye surgery in Atlanta, it’s always best to schedule a consultation with your eye surgeon first, so they can assess vision first and recommend the best course of action.

What Conditions can Laser Eye Surgery Treat

LASIK surgery corrects the shape of the cornea that’s mostly responsible for refractive errors and enables the light to focus on the retina directly. As such, the treatment can correct:
  • Astigmatism
  • Farsightedness
  • Nearsightedness
So whatever your refractive vision errors are, there’s an answer to them. After having LASIK in Atlanta, prepare to see this wonderful city in a whole new light!

Meet Our LASIK
Surgeon – Dr. Stetson

Prior to joining Diamond Vision and becoming one of the most acclaimed LASIK surgeons, Dr. Stetson was Chief of Ophthalmology and Medical Director of the Air Force’s prestigious Air Force Academy Laser Eye Clinic. Under his guidance, the Air Force Academy Laser Eye Clinic achieved the best surgery results among the USAF’s six centers, and Dr. Stetson was officially recognized for superior customer satisfaction. Dr. Stetson was chosen to perform the very first Lasik procedure on a US Air Force active duty member, the four-star general in charge of US Space Command! Dr. Stetson’s work, as a vision doctor, with the general, was instrumental in changing Air Force regulations to allow Lasik surgeons to perform procedures on USAF active-duty personnel.

Born in Connecticut and raised in Upstate New York, Dr. Stetson graduated Cum Laude from Colgate University in New York and then earned an MD degree with honors at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He distinguished himself again in residency at the Albany Medical Center, where he obtained the highest percentile in the Ophthalmology Knowledge Assessment Examinations.

Dr. Stetson has performed more than 50,000 refractive surgeries and has been on LASIK surgeons staff at Diamond Vision since 2004, before becoming Medical Director in 2006.

Lasik & Ophthalmology services at Lasik Center of Atlanta:

Apart from LASIK, our Atlanta office offers several other treatments for vision problems.

LASIK Eye Surgery

Correcting the shape of the cornea, this highly efficient and safe procedure can treat astigmatism, nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. One of the most reliable treatments in the field, boasting a 95% success rate.

iLASIK Surgery Procedure

Combining the best of what LASIK has to offer, this procedure is tailored to the specific vision dynamics of the patient. The surgery aims at treating the unique imperfections of every patient’s eyes. With the help of WaveScan technology and the revolutionary Fourier algorithms, we are able to deliver the highest possible resolution of your optical pathway. Then, the advanced laser technology procedures can provide the most effective and accurate treatment.

Intralase LASIK

Intralase LASIK uses the newest Intralase femtosecond laser technology. During this procedure, instead of using a blade to create the corneal flap, your surgeon also uses a laser. This way, Intralase has even better predictability and can serve as an option for those who didn’t qualify for LASIK previously.

CustomVue Wavefront LASIK

Custom LASIK” or “wavefront LASIK.” CustomVue treatments use WaveScan™ technology, originally developed to reduce distortions in high-powered telescopes. The treatment creates a detailed map of your eye and enables the laser to work with even more precision.

Kamra Inlay

Kamra eye procedure is a corrective procedure aimed at improving the effects of diminishing near vision which occurs during the eye’s natural aging process.

PRK Eye Surgery

PRK laser eye surgery or Photorefractive Keratectomy is part of a family of procedures called “surface ablations” because the laser is applied directly on the surface of the cornea rather than under a flap, as with LASIK. Surgeons worldwide have performed PRK for over 20 years now.

LipiFlow Dry Eyes Treatment

LipiFlow allows treating the causes of evaporative dry eye successfully and with ease.
This dry eyes treatment directly deals with the root causes of the condition, providing gentle and warm heat to the eyelids while at the same time gently massaging them.

ICL (Implantable Contact Lenses)

The Visian ICl (also known as Implantable Collamer Lens) is a lens implant that has the capacity to reduce and/or correct moderate or severe astigmatism and nearsightedness (between the ranges of –3.0 D to –20.0 D). As a matter of fact, these permanent contact lenses are able to treat these problems that are well beyond the ranges of LASIK, which is up to 4.0 D of astigmatism and -12.0 D of nearsightedness.

Cataract Surgery

During surgery, we will use an ultrasound device or laser to help break up the cloudy cataract lens into tiny pieces. Then these small pieces are carefully removed through gentle suction. After the cloudy lens has been removed, we will replace it with an artificial lens implant.

Intacs Corneal Implants

Intacs corneal implants are an exciting option for individuals experiencing intolerance to contact lenses and who are facing a corneal transplant. Intacs corneal implants may be the best possible option to stabilize the cornea, improve vision and potentially defer the need for a corneal transplant.
