Sick of your dependence on glasses and contact lenses? Let them go! Diamond Vision offers a variety of procedures to help you develop your sharpest vision. Lasik surgery is the most popular, but it isn’t always for everyone! Some of us don’t yet need laser eye surgery; we need other procedures to lift, tuck and make tiny twists that help us see a little more clearly. If you are unsure about Lasik, curious about other options or just want to know what all the options are, read below about four of the most common eyesight improvement procedures:
- Lasik: Lasik has gained popularity over the last two decades, as its procedure has been fine tuned and completed with continual success. In the procedure, a laser is used to remove a bit of tissue and reshape the cornea so that light rays hit the eye at the optimal angles for sharp, clear images. The postop care is easy, but important to follow closely. Patients who maintain a proper postop schedule often find Lasik to be their permanent solution to glasses and lenses.
- Custom Vue: Custom Vue of Wavefront Lasik comes with rave reviews from patients. Custom Vue uses a 3D measurement of how the patient’s eye processes images so that the surgeon can reshape the cornea specific to that eye’s needs. The customization of the procedure is allowed by the detailed examination of the 3D eye measurement. The customization allows for the most precise correction and manipulation of the cornea, achieving results that would not be possible in regular Lasik or with glasses and contacts.
- Visian ICL: Visian ICL is a quick, 15-minute procedure that changes the vision by placing a lens in the eye. The vision change can be permanent, but since Visian is an additive procedure, the lens can always be removed in the case of future, additionally necessary eye procedures. Many prefer Visian ICL because it does not change the physical shape of the cornea, and the base of the lens is biocompatible, which means it will adjust to the body’s chemistry. (hint: great for someone with thin corneas!)
- PRK: PRK, or photorefractive keratectomy, changes the cornea shape by vaporizing a small part of the tissue. PRK permanently removes the deeper layers of cornea so that the cells can regenerate and adjust to the newly evolving eyesight.
